Raúl García R. / Producer, Director and Screenwriter
Winner of the 1st National Film Award of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia
Born in Bogota. He graduated as a Film and Television Director and in 1990 he obtained the title of "MASTER OF ARTS" of the Higher Academy of Film and Theater of Sofia, Bulgaria. That same year he was awarded for his film "Palpando el Tiempo" at the 7th International Film Festival in Bogotá when he won the award as Best Young Colombian Filmmaker.
In 1991 and 1992 he is winner of the 2nd. and 3rd. National Short Film Competition with the films "Nocturnal Sun" and "The Mutations". As Director and / or Director of Photography he has made more than 1000 commercials for innumerable advertising campaigns. His filmography as director and producer includes 28 shorts and medium-length films, documentaries and three feature films.
In the year 2000 he made his first feature film "Kalibre 35", of which he is Director and Co-scriptwriter along with Dago García. With this film he obtained among others the following prizes:
Best Film of the 1st. National Film Award of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, 2001.
The Americas Award for Best Film, Festival of Cinemas of Spain and the Americas, Brussels, Belgium-2001. Best Film of the Hispano-American Festival of Toronto, Canada-2001.
Two Special Jury Awards at the Cartagena International Film Festival, 2000.
Prize to the Best Film Opera Prima, San Juan Cinemafest, 2000.
He has been Director of several television series among the highlights "Killer Women" (RCN 2007), Winning TV series Favorite TV Awards and Novels (2008), "Desperate Housewives II" (2009) for RCN / Vista / Disney International Television and "Land of Singers" (2010) for Caracol TV, "Chronicles of a Dream" (Three seasons) for the Capital Channel.
He is currently doing the post-production of feature films "The Circus Fantasy"( first Latin film made in 3D format of real image) and "Rain, The Music of the Soul", of which he is Director and Producer. In 2010 he founded the company Solaris Dreams Films focused on the generation and production of audiovisual content.
